Veteran Identity (Perceptions) in Higher Education: A Veteran/Scholar/Advocate’s Story

چکیده

Through autoethnography, a research method that considers how personal lived experiences are impacted and made visible through inquiry into cultural systemic issues, the author shares her story of being administrator staff member at veteran center within US university. As both scholar studies, researcher paints picture consequences multidecade war on post-9/11 generation veterans, veteran-centric scholarship, services university settings. Her illustrates lack military insight attunement higher-education leadership demonstrates why administrators centers spaces must be well versed in awareness. The overarching themes this piece reify truth, empathy, competency paramount to overcome barriers praxis related issues. Most importantly, shows tells veterans need seat table.
